About
I was writing a few articles for my primary blog – blogs.prashu.com when I got the idea for this new blog. There are many blogs around about technology and software and services, but until now I have not come across a site that specifically lists usable technologies that helps make life easier for the computer user. By usable I refer mainly to free software or tweaks that can be tried out by a basic computer user without too much effort on his/her part and one that helps him/her save time and effort doing common computing tasks.
Now I also will consider the fact most of the computer users in the world are PC users (PC users as in, opposed to Mac users) and they again use primarily Windows as the operating system of choice. Hence most of the tweaks and tips that I would be putting up on this site would probably be things that work for the windows operating system. That said, it is also important to understand that users who are trying out Linux are more in need of tips and tricks that will help them get adjusted to the OS quickly and use it productively easily. So I will definitely be trying to cover softwares and tweaks for Linux as well.
However, this is only the software part of this blog. From where I see this blog heading, software will definitely not be the primary focus of this blog. Far from it in fact. 90% of the software posts will pertain to browsers and browser tweaks and some of that will be browser dependent, which is why I have mentioned the sort of disclaimer above. What I am looking to cover is in fact things that are more general to help one in their life. Things such as internet services, websites and technological adoptations that will make life easier. Very importantly, I will only cover things that are free(or mostly free for productive use) and can be used by anyone without having to spend any amount of money for its use. Especially important is that the technology that I will be writing about is technology that is within the common mans reach and is already available in the market. Not some random technologies like surface computing and sixth sense which might become mainstream only after at least a couple of years and that would cost an arm and a leg to early adopters.
In fact, to put it in very simple words, what I would be blogging about will definitely be something that I have procured and/or tried and I have used for a length of time until I have found it really useful to me and worth blogging about. So be rest assured, that you will definitely find these posts useful and you must indeed try it out yourself and let me know how you found these tips.
Of course, if you would like to be a contributor, you can mail me your tips and suggestions to webmaster at prashu dot com and I will feature your articles with all due credit. In fact, if you have a lot of such tips and/or would like to contribute on a regular basis, then I would even consider making you a partner author of this blog. So do write in with you feedback, comments and contributions. Looking forward to hearing from you.
