Of Chroma, Firefox and Safari
So the latest buzz around town is the new Google Chroma browser. It claims to be ultra light and fast and better than Firefox and stuff. Yes, I downloaded it and tried using it and the browser seems pretty fast with quick start-up times. Of course this can be attributed to the browser being very light and the lack of add-ons unlike Firefox as premkudva pointed out in one of his earlier posts.
Anyway, I did feel something amiss and I compared Chroma with Safari. Safari is light years ahead of Chroma. It has much much faster load times and the page rendering times are also incredible. Chroma on the other hand is quite slow at rendering pages especially with heavy graphic content like phpbb based forums. Also noticed that Safari too is slow loading high graphic content like image sites and youtube. So, these 2 nex-gen browsers are good at loading simple text based pages and are might fast at doing that, but when it comes to graphics loaded pages, FF still rools the roost.
Btw, when you compare Safari and Chroma, Safari kicks a$$. Chroma still needs a lot of ironing out to be done.
Errr.. Chrome, not chroma
heh…. yaya… realised that when I was uninstalling.
